Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. After relocating to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. As a young girl of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons in acting, singing and dance. Through a school play as well as an Stagecoach production, Emma took her role as lead actress at 10, and acted. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 adaptation from J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight straight auditions. Emma's debut film appearance came as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film is 2001's top earning film, smashing records at the opening and the very first weekend. The critics were impressed by the film and its performance. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in a feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her performance in the movie.
